One one hand the child might be experiencing a high blood sugar during the times he is acting out – the only way to know for sure is to test his blood sugar and see what his numbers are. If he is acting out as a result of high blood sugar then the mom needs to step in and talk to his doctor about tweaking his insulin dosage. His blood sugar won’t lower by itself, usually extra insulin is needed to bring it back down. Sometimes exercise can help bring it down, but it isn’t a guarantee.
However, the child could just not be getting proper training at home. His mother may very well let him fall into a funk whenever he feels like and blame it on the disease. But, like I said above, you won’t know until you test his blood sugar during one of his fits.

The mother is right. Diabetes if your blood sugars are too high or too low can cause a drastic change in a person’s behavior. The only way is to check his blood sugar levels and if too low give him something to eat and if they’re too high ask the mother if you can give him extra insulin or more exercise to bring his blood sugars down. But if you don’t know what you’re doing you can make things dangerous, so ask the mother what she does when his is like this.
