If you will not be driving a vehicle that you have registered, you may have it de-insured by filling out a De-Insured Certificate form which is available online. This way, you can keep the vehicle’s registration current while not paying for insurance premiums.

Problem is, whether or not you remember, you did drive it and therefore it should have been insured, was it? If so, tell the judge what happened, and proof you were insured. If you didn’t have insurance and hadn’t listed it as non operational, insurance bought today wouldn’t cover the date of your accident anyway.

Bottom line, whatever the judge tells you is what you will have to do. Good luck in court.

Why not just pay the $300 and the insurance like they ask you and be lucky that you aren’t fined 15.000 euros and lose your license like they do over here.
