Hi, im twenty-three weeks upon Tuesday as well as for this past integrate of weeks we have been feeling ‘funny’, any way went to the diagnosis room as well as the practive helper did the finger cut as well as it was 9.5 that is intensely high.
I had to come behind the subsequent sunrise fasting from the night before, have red blood taken, splash the full bottle of lucozade (very tough to do initial thing in the morning) as well as come behind 2 hours after as well as get bloods finished again.
I get the formula 2moro though im panicking not usually for my illness though my sanatorium where we am carrying my baby send we to the opposite sanatorium if we have diabetes, we have the preference of 2 hospitals Craigavon or Belfast, conjunction of that we wish to have my baby in as they have been both as well as hour away!!
This is baby no3 for me
Has any one has gestational diabetes, what happened with your diet, feelings, baby etc???

I’ve got type 1 diabetes and it gets harder to control as pregnancy progresses. My babies have all been on the large side, and all were born early. It might mean your stomach is larger than normal as you have a generally bigger bub. a BSL of 9.5 is high, but nothing to be losing sleep over at this stage. I’m just getting over a few weeks where my sugars were at 18mmol/L and sometimes higher.
Your doctor will discuss whether your diabetes can be managed with diet or if you need insulin injections. It has a good chance of subsiding once you give birth, too. Don’t be too stressed at this stage!
Take it easy.
EDIT: BSL readings differ in their measurements from country to country. Australia, and I think the UK etc, measure in mmol/L which mean the normal range is say 4.5-6.0 and the measurement is mmol/L. Readings for folk in the US and other places are in the hundreds, with 200 or more of the unit measurement meaning it is high. Google which measurement your country measures in if this is unclear.
9.5 what? blood glucose levels should measure under 100 mg/ dl when you are fasting. as a prgnant woman anything under 150 would be considered normal.
a 2 hour GGT is a very normal test for a pregnant woman. again you should be fasting with a level below 100. it will spike around the 1 hr blood draw and dip back to normal at the 2 hour blood draw.
you should never go over 200 mg/dl during the test. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK> this includes coffee. you have no idea how many patients i have come in after they had coffee. my favorite was a lady who had just slammed a diet soda. but SHE assured ME that it was okay cause it was diet so there was no sugar. moron. this test monitors your bodies reaction to sugars and your insulin response. insulin will respond to anything in cluding gum coffee and diet soda….
Yes and my doctor just had me watch my diet that has been 20 years ago though. I never had to go through what you are dealing with. I had it with both children.
I am now in a Pre-diabetic condition. I am not overweight, I walk and eat semi-healthy but without proper nutriotion and health care I could become a full blown diabetic.
Don’t stress just take care of yourself. Blessings to you and your baby. My children are fine.

They test you early in pregnancy so that you can manage it well and decrease the complications that you may have. If you can manage with diet, fantastic and just stick to the diet… otherwise take your insulin as directed. (This is all IF you have gestational diabetes!)
If you manage your sugar well, the complications can be kept to a minimum and be okay to birth in a small hospital. Polyhydramnios (extra water), LGA baby (big/chubby baby). They will check babies sugar for the first day or so after it’s born also, as they will still produce extra insulin for the high sugar, but not have all the sugar anymore after the cord is cut. Thus leading to LOW sugar in the baby.
