There are 2 suggestions to question “I am looking for a diabetic diet.?”

  1. Great site to check out:

  2. Ok, I can not give you a diet you can print out on the fridge but I can give you some guidelines to definitely help you out. As a diabetic, at most you should be having 45 grams of carbs per meal plus an additional 25 for a snack. So in a days time you can ingest 160 carbs. In doing this though, you can subtract the amount of fiber from the total count of the carbs. For instance if you have a serving of brown rice which a total carb count of 43 G of carbs and 5 grams of fiber, your total carb inntake is 38grams. I know it is confusing but you will be surprised how many high fiber foods you will learn to love in order to spread out those carbs.

What is also important is to substitute all your enriched flour products and white rice for multigrain. Eat brown rice, whole grain bread and whatever else you can get your hands on carb wise. Luckily for us a lot of companies have started switching to whole grains so we can find a lot more food available to us.

On an end note, if you want to lose weight cut down your caloric intake from the 2000 calories a day to maybe 1500 and eat 4-5 small meals a day instead of 3 larger ones ( divide up your carbs and have 32G per meal on this plan). If you do this, you will find yourself with less time in between meals to snack! Be aware of portions, drink plenty of water, and excercise. I have had to do this since I am diabetic also, it was hard at first but now it is part of my life. Good Luck!
