if ones shoes are diabetic do they require insulin and meter?

seriously what have been diabetic shoes? i have listened of them though dont know what they essentially do for diabetics

There are 5 suggestions to question “if ones shoes are diabetic do they require insulin and meter?”

  1. Seriously, diabetic shoes, often referred to as extra depth or therapeutic shoes, are specially designed shoes, intended to reduce the risk of skin break down in diabetics with an existing foot disease. The diabetic shoes must be prescribed by a physician & fitted by a qualified individual, such as a certified Pedothorist. These special shoes have velcro fasteners, instead of shoe laces. For the ladies, they can get these shoes in Mary Janes, a shoe many of us wore in our younger days. They also have sneakers, for diabetic men & women. Now you know!

  2. Some diabetics have problems with their feet’s and wear them. My husband is a diabetic and does do the insulin’s and meter thingy everyday but as of yet has not have any problems with his feet’s yet, but his dad wore them all the time..it help keep the blood circulation and keep them from getting infections..cause that is one place where the doctors look at when they visit..they are uncomfortable and chunky looking to some people..but it is necessary for them to wear them..=)

  3. They are just low sugar gummy bear shoes. Don’t want diabetics risking high blood sugar when they insert foot in mouth.

  4. Seriously, if the medical suppliers could find a way to do this, you can bet they would be available. And at a premium.

I have only seen pictures of them and they are not the most attractive shoes, but they do serve a purpose for a person with diabetes.

  5. Diabetic shoes and socks don’t pinch or bind. They’re looser and more comfortable with good support. We have to be careful with our feet because we get infections more easily. I don’t wear diabetic shoes, but I do like the Dr. Scholl’s socks for diabetics. We’re also not supposed to get pedicures, run around barefoot or wear shoes without hose because blisters can be a big problem for us.
