Neuopathy is supposed to affect the extremeties, but sometimes our bodies forget to read the fine print. My knees hurt and my shoulders would join in. My doctor put me on Ultram. It is a pain pill that doesn’t damage the organs, and this is important. I discovered that heat helped my knees, so I keep a heating pad near my chair. On bad days I put the heating pad across my knees and put a pillow on them to keep the pad in place. Just use it about half an hour, then off. Hope this helps some.

No, not usually. Neuropathy is usually felt in the feet and lower legs and often comes as a sharp, shocking, shooting pain or numbness and tingling coupled with pain. If your knees are hurting it’s probably arthritis of the knees. See an orthopedic doctor to decide what course of action would be right for you.

Diabetic neuropathy usually affects the distal extremities like the fingers and toes. You should see a doctor as the knee pain may be unrelated to the diabetes.
