Please follow the diet. Blood sugar can go up and down, better to eat what is best for you and baby in the long run. I hope you have lots of support from friends and family. I can recommend a wonderful online support group called mamasource. Try not to stress out. Breathe, rest as much as you can, and think positive, loving thoughts. Wishing you the best...

I hope I can ease your fears. I failed my 1 hour glucose and barely passed my 3 hour. I met with a Nutrionist and was given diet ideas, as well. You are doing the right thing by checking your blood sugars. With me, I had a few more ultrasounds than normal. I am currently 36 weeks. I am surprised you weren't scheduled for another one, just to check your baby's growth. If anything, the baby may be larger than an average 7 pound baby. You may have a 8, 9, or even 10 pound baby. If the baby is large, the worst thing is that you may need a C-Section, instead of having a vaginal delivery.

They will also monitor your baby during delivery and if it's under any stress, they will keep a close eye on that. As far as the baby having low blood sugar, I honestly am not sure about that.

Like you said, you don't have long to go, so try to watch what you eat and keep checking your sugar levels. Be sure to let the doctor know if it's too high or too low. I am sure you will be fine.

With my second baby I had high blood sugar and she was actually smaller than my first who was 9 1/2lbs! The odds of a stillbirth are pretty slim just relax and don't let the docs frighten you too much. They tend to be over paranoid with the risk info so the don't get sued later IF there is a problem.
