Serious Pain. Neuropathic pain can be the worst of the worst. Think about those times when you hit your 'funny bone'. The funny bone is actually the Ulnar Nerve. The terrific pain you feel is, therefore, a type of neuropathic pain. The pains may not be 'exactly' the same, but the severity can be.
Best wishes.
I dont have it so cant answer personally but have nursed people with it and it is very painful. Its a kind of pain that responds to pain killers very poorly.
very painful/ my mother has it/ sometimes it leads to amputation of a leg because of poor blood flow
Normally it is characterized by a lack of feeling. The lack of feeling is what makes it dangerous because minor wounds can become infected and eventually gangrenous. Make sure either the family member or a caregiver examines their feet and lower leg regularly. Balance can also become an issue as the person can not fully feel their feet.
I am Diabetic so I know what it feels like. Actually it is a lack of feeling. I have it in both feet. I can't feel anything from the toes to halfway down my foot on the bottom and sides. I have to be very careful about cuts, infection and if it goes farther. Right now it is very difficult to wear flip flops cause I can't tell if they are on or not. Although sometimes when I lay down I'll get a pain or the nerve will jump in my feet. It's not pleasant. I hope that helped.

diabetic neuropathy is of 3 types, rather any neuropathy is of three main types
1. sensory
2. motor
3. autonomic
there are different symptoms for assessing each one.
eg. sensory: loss of sensation or numbness or pain etc.
motor: decreased power, hypotonia
autonomic: superficial and deep reflexes, blood pressure and pulse changes…….etc..you should consult a doctor cause many causes have same symptoms
