will there be a cure for diabetes?

My son has been the diabetic for twenty-eight years. Anything improved entrance out, on top of transplants or inhaled insulin? What about BETA cells? we have listened about this spectacle given 1978.

There are 12 suggestions to question “will there be a cure for diabetes?”

  1. Not again…G D, that article was written about Type 2 diabetes, which is related to obesity and is an epidemic. This is the common form of diabetes that the media is always referring to. If an article says "diabetes", you can bet it means Type 2. Type 2 can be controlled and prevented in most cases by following a healthy lifestyle.

Because the media never mentions Type 1 diabetes or diferentiates between the two types, no one knows it exists, and people continue to be ignorant.

I am almost certain the poster’s son has autoimmune Type 1 diabetes. This is the rarer severe form of diabetes that is not preventable. It is an autoimmune disease. There are required genetics for it, and an environmental trigger such as a virus. It is NOT linked to diet or weight, and the person does not even make enough insulin to live without eating anything (called basal insulin). They will go into a coma and quickly die without daily insulin, even if they eat NOTHING.

As for the orginal question, beta cell transplants/islet transplants are useless at this point. We have not figured out how to stop the autoimmune attack that destroyed the original islets in the first place, and they will be destroyed again. The transplant is doomed to fail. Also, there is a limited supply of cells, and the drugs currently required are toxic. The average lifespan of a translant recipient is 10 years, and most are back on insulin injections after 1 or 2 years. Insulin resistance is not an issue here, that would apply to Type 2 diabetes, the common form of the disease.

There is much work being done for Type 1 diabetes, with a major shift in the focus of how to cure it. We now know that the autoimmune attack CONTIUNES in Type 1 diabetics, and it appears as though islets can regenerate IF the attack is stopped. This was never though possible. At the very least, stopping the autoimmune attack will allow transplanted islets to survive.

Also, we think the point of entry for Type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune disease triggers appears to be the intestines. People with autoimmune diseases have a "leaky gut", which allows these triggers in. Alba is a company working on a drug to "close" these gaps.

Some researchers you can look up:
    Dr. Denise Faustman (www.joinleenow.org)

Dr.Valdez in Mexico (He developed a way to transplant pig islets without using anti-rejection drugs (Sertoli cells were used)).
A Canadian company is looking to replicate this, and is waiting for FDA approval.

  2. you should read this article from men’s health.
it is titled the cure for diabetes.
it talks about cutting out carbs. and gives the reasons behind it.
and how the medical community does not want the info to come out. because of all the money from research.

    go to your library.
it was a month or 2 ago.

  3. Pancreas transplant seems to be getting better all the time

  4. I can probably say that there already is a cure. Will the public ever see it? Maybe not.

  5. I don’t know if Beta cell transplants are viable yet but you may want to go the website for the American Diabetes Association (I think it’s http://www.ada.com) and check out the latest information.

  6. The test, including longitudinal studies have not yet been completed.

  7. no sorry

  8. yes it is, there is a cure already, the problem seems that there is no affordable for everybody.

  9. I also have 28 years. Mom, is that you???
Maybe not. Mom doesn’t use the Internet that much.

I was in the doctor’s office yesterday and read something on her wall chart that indicated to me that a pancreas transplant might not work anyway. It said that every cell in a diabetic’s body is insulin resistant.

I hope the Democrats stop their obsession with minimum wage and all the relatively small issues, and get to their promise of stem cell funding.

Meanwhile, I continue my struggle to eat right and excercise. There was a recent article off Yahoo headlines that said diabetics respond best to a mixture of aerobic workout and resistence training in the same session. Obviously don’t try to push as hard on both as you would do separately.

  10. i sure hope there will. there is this product called jugo menonita (menonite juice). it´s made from cabbage, nopal (cactus) and garlic. it´s a dietary supplement that help control sugar levels in diabetics. it comes from mexico and is now also available in the US. it´s also FDA approved. there are alot of testimonies who have said that they now use less sinthetic medinine. you can visit the website at http://www.jugomenonita.com or write to rempel_gilberto@yahoo.com or call 1-877-598-9090 for information.
i really hope this info helped you.

  11. Well, I’ve heard of pancreas transplants and then I’ve heard of insulin and all kinds of things to try. And currently, scientists are doing the Stem-cell research to try to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. I hope he hangs in there!

  12. Nope. Nada. Not gonna happen.

This question comes up more times than the weeds in my yard.
Look at the old answers before posting.

There is no stem cell evidence; it is all hype. Even if it ever worked, it would be suppressed for the following reason.

No cures have been found for anything since polio. The reason is: The health care industry needs unhealthy people as a market. What money can you make off cured people? It’s all about maintenance charges. You will make more money off maintaining a diabetic than curing him.

Your suggestion?
